A few years ago I was growing my hair out long. My hair grows real thick and unruly. Ray saw me one day and nodded his head and said "Legends of the Fall!" Everyone around us got a really big laugh out of it and he's called me Legends ever since.

A lot of the guys who were young when the original Star Trek series was on T.V. in the late sixties became engineers, programmers, and software developers. I've been involved in technology and software my entire adult life. I've worked in dozens of different business areas too. Financials, telecommunications, software sales, and manufacturing. I picked up a lot of business knowledge and savvy along the way. So my title at RXYM is Director of Technology, and I maintain the web site and RXYM's data processing, but I've been involved in setting the company up to do business as well.

I'm a big guy and I didn't try bodyboarding until I lived in SoCal and was almost 50 years old. So I know how much strength and stamina is required. I know all of our riders and can tell you they are all in great shape and are serious athletes. From the old dogs to the young groms, they represent RXYM very well. Strong athletes and genuinely good guys all around.

Wow! I saw a lot of shows in the seventies and eighties. Top of my favorites: Led Zeppelin on the Physical Graffiti tour, Frank Zappa when Steve Vai played with him, Yes, the grandfathers of art/prog rock, Talking Heads on the Stop Making Sense tour, King Crimson, Queen, Pink Floyd, Fleetwood Mac, David Bowie, Neil Young with Crazy Horse and with Crosby, Stills, and Nash, the Eurythmics, U2, I could go on a lot longer, but my absolute favorite was Peter Gabriel on the Secret World Live tour.

My real passion is helping people. Web work is just another way to do that. I've been really fortunate and blessed that there were people in my life that helped me when I was in a tough place or two. I get such satisfaction helping others find success and healing that I'm pursuing a Master's degree that will better equip me to do business counseling as well as family and spiritual counseling.

Don't try to figure everything out yourself. No matter how isolated youmight feel at any given time, there is someone out there who can relate to what you're going through. Seek them out and ask them to tell you how they did it and what success or survival felt like. Never make the mistake of telling yourself nobody understands or nobody cares.

Completing my bachelor's degree later in life (50 years young) was a lot of fun and very satisfying. Pursuing my master's from Talbot school of Theology at BIOLA is probably even more exciting and definitely a lot harder. It's nothing to read 200 to 300 pages a week and write one or two five page papers each week. A lot of the personal growth is in the challenging work. To do it in such a prestigious environment with other Christian men and women is the icing on the cake.

I haven't been back to Virginia since 1983. I miss the Smithsonian museums and the monuments. Mostly I miss the seasons (fall leaves and snow) and the childhood friends I left behind in 1974 when I moved to Texas.
