RXYM's Paco Healy makes final day of Station Casinos Poker Invitational. 2,400 players entered. Crazy..

Station Casinos (Red Rock Casino, Green Valley Ranch Casino Las Vegas, etc.) put on a 2,400 player tournament which RXYM's Paco Healy qualified for.  And after a massive first exit of over 2,000 players, Paco was left as one of the top 10 chip holders going into the final day of 400 players.  Crazy stuff!  Here is his personal account of the tournament, it's pretty tech stuff so we hope you understand poker:

A couple times a year, Station Casino's rewards their regulars by hosting a poker tourny where they put up a $300,000 purse rather then the money coming from players "buy ins". You qualify for the tourny by accumulating hours of play at any of their properties. Needless to say I qualified, and this is how it went.

The tourny started June 6 with a field of 2,324 players. I was in the zone and drew a great starting table. Because of the massive field, I decided I was going to play aggressive from the get go and either chip up or try another day. Things went as planned in one key hand.  I looked down at Queen/Jack of hearts.  I pre-flopped raised three times the big blind.  The flop came 9, 10,  3, with the 10 and 3 being hearts.  Immediately a player went "all in" putting me to the test. Calling him and losing would have left me with less than half of the beautiful stack I just built.  I usually don't like putting that many chips in without a made hand, but in this spot I had 13 outs (cards in the deck that will make my hand - i.e. 9 hearts left in the deck for a flush and any 8 or king makes a straight.) With two cards to come (turn & river) I have a 54% chance that I will improve my hand.

That percentage is great and the odds looked even better - 50% chances equate to 1-1 odds meaning that my odds were 85-1.  I know this all sounds  foreign to those who don't play cards but the point is I was facing a 8,000 chip bet and there was little more than $20,000 in the pot. It cost me less than half the size of the pot to call in a spot where I will make my hand more than half the time.

Sure enough I call and bam! A king came right away making my straight and beating my opponents 9/10 of diamonds for two pair.  After this key pot I picked on some smaller stacks.  Called another players small all in bet with pocket sixes.  He showed Ace/King and he never paired up.  I mixed in a couple nice bluffs and got lucky as a big underdog.  Then I pushed a lady all in holding pocket 9's.  She held pocket 10's with only two 9's in the deck to help me.  I was a 22-1 underdog going to the river and bam!! A 9 came!  They say you gotta play good and get lucky at the same time, so true!  Ultimately I was eliminated in 83 place for a nice payday. I definitely was working towards the final table but nonetheless a great showing in a massive field!"

How sick is that write up?!  Paco of course was rocking all RXYM gear which made the RXYM XRMY very proud.  Wouldn't be surprised to see Paco killing it on ESPN soon.  Just remember our boy Paco is the man and a legit player.  So if you look across the table here in Southern CA or Las Vegas and see a little ripped English/Mexican staring you down with a RXYM Poker hat on and he decides to go ALL IN.. good luck.  You're about to get smoked.
